Verizon Intros Telehealth Collaboration Services for Health Care Industry
Verizon has introduced a portfolio of Telehealth Collaboration Services which enables health care providers to consult remotely with patients and other providers and also provide medical education and training to medical professionals. It enables health care administrators to avoid travel by using collaboration technology.
Most often, time, distance and cost prevent patients from linking to the right health care expert especially in cases where patients have to consult with doctors situated at far off places. Verizon’s (News - Alert) Telehealth Collaboration Services will enable providers to actually see patients through video consultations and collaborations services. This is useful for physicians, hospitals, clinics and insurers, said company sources.
Verizon Business (News - Alert) IT professionals will work with health care organizations to assess their collaboration readiness. They will help in the design, implementation and support for Web and audio conferencing services and video capabilities from desktop Web cams to high-definition and immersive video. The company’s telehealth solutions are suitable for all health care settings and provide security, performance and reliability.
Health care organizations can expand access to specialists’ services like mental health, cardiology and critical care. Remote patient monitoring with real-time access to patient medical information also enables frequent and fast interventions according to the situation.
“Health care providers increasingly are tapping the power of IT, and our telehealth solutions offer an effective way to meet a wide range of challenges, including the expansion of access to care, speeding diagnoses and driving efficiency,” said Rajeev Kapoor, global managing director, Verizon Connected Healthcare, in a release.
“These new IT capabilities will help hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices modernize the delivery of health care, a critical need throughout the U.S. health care system today,” added Kapoor.
Telehealth services are in great demand all over North America according to findings by Datamonitor, a provider of online database and analysis services. It forecasts that annual spending on telehealth hardware, software and related services will triple over the next three years to $ 6.1 billion from the present rate of $ 2.4 billion.
Verizon specializes in providing health cares services to over 17,000 enterprise customers in the health care ecosystem. The company’s portfolio of telehealth services is included in the Verizon Connected Healthcare Solutions that enhances delivery of patient care, manages costs, gives access to services, and provides data privacy.
Telehealth enables fast diagnosis and efficient treatment and it most suitable for patients and doctors in rural and remote areas.
