Avistar Communications Unveils Avistar C3 Media Engine

Avistar Communications has unveiled its latest component for the Avistar C3 (News - Alert) platform – the Avistar C3 Media Engine. The solution can deduce the best way to integrate high quality, scalable video and audio conferencing as part of the unified communications experience on the desktop.

Avistar deals in the unified visual communications, providing proven business-class desktop videoconferencing technology.
Avistar (News - Alert) claims that with the new solution it has addressed another core visual communications technology need by delivering the entire media experience as an independent, embeddable component. Through Avistar C3 Media Engine, core functionality such as establishing a video or audio call and performing trans-rating and transcoding tasks are now available in a separate piece of technology that ensures high connectivity, reliability, audio and video synchronization—all working in accord via a componentized plug in.

Stephen Epstein (News - Alert), chief marketing officer, Avistar stated that while many unified communications companies and application vendors wanted advanced desktop videoconferencing options to be used in their solutions, they would have to change their software platform significantly in order to integrate a reliable visual communications experience within their applications. But Avistar C3 Media Engine offers them high quality media experience and visual communication capability via a plug-in.

Avistar has asserted that technology partners need not have to rebuild their communications platform if they want to integrate visual communications experience into their solutions; all they need to do is to opt for Avistar. They also need not have to move past instant messaging and VoIP integration, or sacrifice high quality, high performance videoconferencing to fasten their time to market. The feature-rich and cost effective Avistar C3 Media Engine completes a company’s unified visual communications strategy.

If the technology partners prefer to simply deliver desktop videoconferencing alongside their solutions, rather than embedding the technology, they can choose Avistar C3 Desktop Standalone solution. Both C3 Media Engine and C3 Desktop Standalone provide a PC-based, videoconferencing solution with a consistent, high quality user experience.

Avistar says that its “Prove Before You Purchase” License Credit Program is available to application vendors who want to experience a new level of visual communications and can greatly expand the value of their current software offerings while using integration costs as a credit against future product licenses.

Avistar recently entered into a technology agreement with Logitech (News - Alert) to integrate its technology with Logitech’s video communications services and had launched “Visual Insights,” a program that allows application vendors to quickly embed software applications with visual communications.
