Nortel Hospitality Solution Keeping Las Vegas Travelers Spoiled

Travelers staying at the famous Venetian Resort or Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas are in for a treat thanks to the latest in unified communications technology from Nortel (News - Alert).

With Nortel's help, both hotels are boasting a happier, more productive staff. And, not only have the new service improved staff productivity and guest experiences, but it has also helped the hotel staff to be more satisfied with their jobs. This means reduced attrition in an industry where the need to retain "top-notch people pleasers" is a must.

Both the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and The Palazzo Las Vegas are making use of Nortel's Unified Communications (News - Alert) technology including contact center, messaging service, personalized greetings, and more to make the guest experience the best possible.

With Nortel's hospitality solution, guests can easily book show tickets or make dinner reservations online or over the phone. Also, guests can have access to the latest news, weather and sports and are offered messaging services they can customize and forward as easily as they do with their home voicemail.

“This is the power of unified communications,” said Joel Hackney (News - Alert), president, Enterprise Solutions, Nortel. “The ability to instantly determine staff availability and the fastest, most efficient way to reach them minimizes delay for a more upbeat tempo of business operations and a more agile and competitive organization.”

In addition to the hotels, the Sands Expo and Convention Center, which is also owned by Las Vegas Sands Corp., has also improved the way their staff is able to deliver services thanks to Nortel's technology which includes Nortel’s Communication Server 1000 for VoIP, CallPilot Unified Messaging, Contact Center 6.0, Hospitality Messaging Server 400 and up to 1,000 IP Phone 1140 Series desk sets.

With IP telephony and unified messaging capabilities, the Sands staff is able to more quickly respond to guests and with better streamlined operations, can focus on guest services. Also, as part of the hospitality solution, the Sands can make use of integrated mobile telephony from Nortel if needed in the future, to further boost staff accessibility.

The Palazzo Las Vegas was recognized earlier this year by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) with a Silver LEED Certificate (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

Just last week, Nortel also made headlines with the announcement that Belgium's Jan Yperman Hospital deployed a healthcare communications solution from Nortel that is built on the company's unified communications (UC)-ready infrastructure. The solution has helped the hospital enhance quality of care and manage costs thanks to faster, more efficient diagnosis and treatment of patients.
