Chelsio Communications (News - Alert) is reporting today that its T3-based, dual port 10GbE CX4 PCI Express Storage Accelerator has been selected by Verari Systems as the high-speed interconnect for its award-winning BladeRack 2 X-Series DataServer and StorageServer storage platforms.

 

Kevin McGrath, vice president and general manager at Verari Systems Storage Systems Group, said that the combination of Verari Systems’ DataServer and StorageServer products with Chelsio’s CX4 10G Storage Accelerators offers customers increased performance, scalability and cabling efficiency.

 

McGrath said that as the result of the relationship with Chelsio and the joint engineering expertise of both companies, his company is now providing industry-leading 10G Ethernet solutions to customers and helping speed the industry to greater adoption of 10G Ethernet connectivity.

 

Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and chief executive officer of Chelsio, said that the Unified Wire adapters enable Verari Systems’ platforms to simultaneously address storage, clustering and networking markets without requiring specialty switches, gateways or IT personnel. He added that any generic 10Gb Ethernet switch can be used to deliver the value of fabric convergence. Also, the associated savings in server power and utilities further enhance the total cost of ownership for the data center operators, company officials say.
