WebMessenger OCS Solution Supports Nokia S60 Devices

WebMessenger’s WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) solution now supports Nokia smartphones leveraging the S60 mobile platform from Symbian (News - Alert).

Companies that are currently using the Microsoft unified communications platform can extend the same functionality to mobile professionals as WebMessenger expects to stimulate collaboration worldwide and throughout Europe, where Nokia (News - Alert) S60 devices are popular in the enterprise market.

Enterprise Architectures Practice Director for Butler Group, Mark Blowers said that the European business market is in need of mobile unified communications solutions. Nokia S60 smartphones have achieved excellent penetration in the region and with an increase in the adoption of Microsoft (News - Alert) OCS in Europe there is the potential for European businesses to enhance productivity among the growing distributed mobile workforce.

Microsoft Office Communications Server can manage all real-time (synchronous) communications including instant messaging, VoIP, audio and video conferencing. Also, Microsoft OCS powers presence, which unites all the contact information stored in Active Directory with the ways people communicate.

Because WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS extends similar functionality to Nokia S60 devices, mobile professionals can achieve the same collaboration and productivity opportunities in the field that they experience in the office. They also enjoy other benefits such as reduced operational expenses and increased workplace appeal.

Val Babajov, founder and CEO of WebMessenger said that as a Forum Nokia PRO member they are excited to work with Nokia in addressing an important problem for European businesses.

Babajov noted that Microsoft and Nokia laid much of the groundwork for enterprise mobile communications by raising awareness for their OCS and S60 products, respectively. As businesses aim to capitalize on the benefits of collaboration and mobile communications, there has been a steady increase in adoption throughout Europe.

Bridging the gap between Microsoft OCS and Nokia smartphones, WebMessenger enables customers to maximize their return on both products, while increasing productivity across the enterprise.
