Vignette to Acquire Vidavee
Looking to create a single unified interface for advanced rich media content, Vignette has acquired Vidavee (News - Alert), a video Web services company. With the acquisition, advertisers and publishers can now expect more traffic, increase revenues and increase customer management. Vidavee offers the users with an opportunity to upload, share, analyze and monetize Internet video content. With this acquisition, companies will have the ability to manage all their content from the same console for the first time.
After the completion of the acquisition, Vignette will be among the first vendors to offer increased capabilities to ingest, manage, transcode and provide video and other Web content through a single workflow and user interface. This acquisition also provides Vignette with the capability to use the same publishing platform for content, advanced video and other rich media. For these benefits, Vignette will pay approximately $6.6 million in cash for all outstanding shares of Vidavee, under the terms of the agreement.
To help companies analyze viewer interaction, Vidavee uses heat maps. It also offers additional revenues by taking the most popular sections of a video stream and dynamically inserting advertising and other rich content. It is now easier to identify sections of interest from a video and share the content as Vidavee offers video tagging capabilities. This can attract additional users and increase the views.
“Video and user-generated content are a top priority for organizations wanting to improve their Web experience, and Vidavee has assembled one of the strongest video management offerings in the industry," said Mike Aviles, president and CEO of Vignette. "By adding video capabilities to our Web Experience Platform, we will be able to provide customers a powerful solution for engaging users across multiple mediums.”
Vignette will immediately offer Vidavee's unique video publishing technologies through a Software as a Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) model, once the acquisition is completed. As the services of Vidavee integrate with Vignette's Digital Services Hub, companies will get a single unified framework for their content monetization and delivery needs. Vignette provides companies with support for creating and managing user-generated content and additional features as it extends the integration to its Community product line.
