BRIEF: Aug. 29 rally in El Paso will push for immigration reform

Aug 18, 2009 (El Paso Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- As part of a statewide push for comprehensive immigration reform, advocates are organizing a rally for Aug. 29 at the El Paso Convention Center.

Reform Immigration for Texas Alliance is partnering with the Border Network for Human Rights on the El Paso event. Similar kick-off events will take place simultaneously across the state of Texas.

The El Paso rally will feature speakers from all the sectors affected by immigration including community members, elected officials, law enforcement leaders, business, academia, and environmentalists, said border network spokesman Jaime Abeytia. Congressman Reyes will also be producing an address to the rally to be played via video.
