SPI Announces New Pulsed Fiber Lasers at Laser 2005; Pulsed Fiber Lasers with Industry-Leading Flexibility
MUNICH, Germany --(Business Wire)-- June 13, 2005 -- Southampton Photonics (SPI) today announced the launch of its redENERGY(TM) pulsed fiber laser range. Two years on from its entry into the industrial laser market with the launch of its redPOWER(TM) industrial CW (continuous wave) fiber laser products, this marks another major technological achievement for the company.
The redENERGY fiber laser platform debuts innovative PulseTune technology that offers the OEM integrator highly flexible control over pulse width and peak power for deployment in multiple applications. The first product release is designed to address the majority of all laser-marking applications with peak powers up to 15kW supported over a wide range of pulse repetition rates. An easy-to-integrate DC-powered OEM fiber laser module is coupled with an optional intelligent controller designed to interface with common laser-marking equipment.
David Parker, SPI's CEO and President, commented: "The launch of our pulsed fiber laser range marks another significant milestone in SPI's roadmap. We continue to innovate and engineer our products to standards that surpass our customers expectations".
Fiber lasers offer many advantages over conventional laser technology, most notably improved line speeds, finer machining capabilities and reduced downtime leading to a lower total cost of ownership.
Also on display at the SPI booth is the full range of CW fiber laser systems and compact laser modules from 2-200W for a wide range of applications in diverse industries.
About SPI
SPI develops and manufactures state-of-the-art CW, modulated and pulsed fiber lasers, components and subsystems, with powers ranging from Ws to kWs for a variety of industrial applications, such as cutting, welding, micro-machining, materials processing, marking and printing. The advantages of fiber lasers are their superior beam quality, a greatly reduced footprint, and no maintenance - radically reducing the costs of ownership. The company's specialty-fiber based optical design enables these compact laser modules to deliver optimum power density with high beam quality to the point of use and are the ideal replacements for the more expensive, bulky, traditional laser systems. http://www.spioptics.com
