New Intermec Wireless PB41 Printer Keeps Mobile Workers on the Road
EVERETT, Wash. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 14, 2004 -- Intermec Technologies Corp.:
-- Integrated Bluetooth and 802.11b wireless connectivity
-- Bi-directional communications enable printer status and wireless configuration queries
-- Rated to withstand cold temperatures to minus 20 C, keeping workers productive all year long
-- Lightweight, yet rugged design built for tough mobile environments
Field service work in the dead of winter can stop many receipt printers cold -- literally. The new PB41 portable direct thermal printer introduced today by Intermec Technologies Corp. is rated to withstand temperatures as low as minus 20 C, keeping mobile workers productive in virtually any weather or cold environment.
The PB41, which interfaces seamlessly with Intermec's 700 Series mobile computers, is designed specifically for store delivery, route accounting, field service, logistics, home delivery and pre-sales applications. Cables connecting mobile devices are the most common point of failure, reducing worker productivity and adding to the total cost of ownership. The PB41 integrates Bluetooth(TM) and 802.11b wireless connectivity, eliminating the need for cables, and includes a serial printer port for wired connectivity when the printer and computer are mounted in a vehicle. Its bi-directional communications capabilities allow it to execute requests for wireless printer status and configuration.
"One of the biggest frustrations for field workers is equipment failure," said Intermec Director Doug Hall. "The PB41's wireless connectivity, virtually indestructible case, and extended battery life keep mobile workers where they need to be -- on their routes."
The PB41 can print up to 4,250 inches on a single battery charge, providing power for a full shift. And its high-density polyethylene case can withstand multiple four-foot drops to concrete without failure.
Accessories for the PB41 include a swivel belt loop, vehicle mounting bracket, DC power extension, AC adaptor, cigarette lighter adapter, and DB9F data cable.
